JASON REES OF LLANELLI SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING UNDERAGE GIRL IN SWANSEA
In a case that has shocked the community of Llanelli and the surrounding areas, Jason Rees, a 41-year-old local businessman, has been sentenced to a decade behind bars for a series of heinous sexual offenses involving a minor. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of grooming, manipulation, and exploitation carried out by Rees against a girl who was only 14 and 15 years old at the time of the incidents.
Rees, who resides at Innisfree, Erw Las, Llwynhendy, was found guilty after a comprehensive trial at Swansea Crown Court.
The charges included engaging in sexual intercourse with the underage girl, inciting her to participate in sexual acts with another man, and possessing indecent images of her.
The court heard how Rees initially groomed the girl, convincing her to send him nude photographs, which he kept as evidence of his manipulative behavior.
The court detailed that the first sexual encounter took place at Rees’s then residence in Swiss Valley.
Over the following year, Rees continued his predatory behavior, taking her for a drive in his car and visiting a friend’s house.
During this visit, the girl was shown pornographic films, and subsequently, she engaged in sexual activity with Rees’s friend while Rees watched.
After the act concluded, Rees reportedly declared, “now it is my turn,” indicating his intention to have sex with her as well.
The case came to light in September 2017 when police, investigating a separate matter, examined the girl’s mobile phone.
During the digital forensic analysis, officers discovered incriminating text messages that revealed the extent of Rees’s misconduct.
When questioned, the girl disclosed the details of her encounters with Rees, leading to his arrest.
Despite denying any wrongdoing and claiming that the nude photographs were of a different girl, Rees’s account was dismissed by the jury, who unanimously convicted him of all charges.
During sentencing, Judge Paul Thomas described Rees’s actions as “wicked,” condemning his manipulative tactics and lack of remorse.
The judge stated, “You set her up with a friend so he could have sex with her while you watched.
You thought only of yourself.
You did not give a damn about her.” The judge also criticized Rees’s defense, calling it “laughable,” and emphasized that Rees’s attempt to deceive the jury had failed.
In addition to his prison sentence, Rees, who previously operated a clothing business in Gorseinon, was ordered to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
The case has left a lasting impact on the community, highlighting the importance of vigilance and the need to protect vulnerable minors from exploitation and abuse.
