WANSTEAD PARK MURDERER JASON DOCKRILL SENTENCED FOR BLUDGEONING FINNISH STUDENT SUVI ARONEN TO DEATH

A serial stalker who bludgeoned a Finnish student to death after attacking three other women on the same day has been sentenced to nine years in jail for a rape he carried out 16 months before.

Jason Dockrill is currently serving a life sentence with a minimum of 25 years for the "sadistic" rape and murder of 23-year-old Suvi Aronen near Wanstead Common, east London, in March 2003.

Earlier this year, the 46-year-old, who has a personality disorder, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to rape and two counts of indecent assault on a stranger in the City of London in November 2001.

Prosecutor Anita Arora said the victim, in her 30s, had been approached by Dockrill as she made a phone call outside a club near the Tower Bridge where she had been enjoying a night out with friends.

With grip tightening, he led her to a secluded area near bins where he forced her to the ground, raped and repeatedly sexually assaulted her.

When she tried to put him off by saying she was with "four coppers", he aggressively replied: "I used to be a member of the SAS.

Now I'm a stockbroker." And despite her protests, he repeatedly told his terrified victim "I know you want it", the court heard.

When she told him she was going to scream if he did not get off her, he put his hands over her mouth and said: "I wouldn't do that if I was you.

I could do you serious damage." Dockrill then blamed her for what had happened, saying: "It's all your fault.

Look what you made me do." As she broke free from him, he warned: "You haven't heard the end of this.

I will come and find where you live.

I'm going to kill you and your husband." Later, his mood changed and he told her he was "sorry", according to the victim's detailed account of her harrowing experience which was read in court.

On March 20 2003, Dockrill randomly assaulted three women in the Wanstead Common area, one of them aged 80 years old.

The same day, Ms Aronen was on the phone to her mother when she was grabbed in an underpass as she walked home.

She was heard to say "stop it, you're hurting me" before the phone went dead, the court heard.

Following the "savage" attack, her body was dragged away and hidden under a trellis and foliage nearby.

She was found the next day.

Dockrill, who becomes eligible to be considered for parole in 2028, was only charged with the earlier rape last year after his DNA was matched to evidence gathered from his victim at the time.

Following her attack, the woman, who cannot be identified, suffered severe psychological effects, Ms Arora said.

Sentencing, Judge Rebecca Poulet said: "This was a terrifying experience for this woman and it has had a very severe and long-term impact on her.

After this serious incident you committed a most terrible murder of a young woman.

It was described by the then Recorder of London as brutal, sadistic and predatory.

The details of the external and internal injuries on that victim's body are of the most appalling and depraved nature.

In my judgment your victim in 2001 owes her life to the fact she did everything she could to keep you calm and appeased." The judge handed Dockrill nine years for rape and five years for each count of sexual assault, all to run concurrently with his life sentence.

She added that her remarks and details of the case should be put before the parole board for any application in the future for his release.

In a review in March this year, the unemployed fitter, formerly from Stratford, east London, was assessed as remaining at "high risk of violent offending" in the future, the court heard.
