JASON COOMBER SENTENCED IN PETERBOROUGH FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN ORTON GOLDAHY

In a case that has shocked the local community of Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, a man named Jason Coomber has been convicted and sentenced for serious sexual offenses involving a young teenage girl. The incident spanned over a three-year period, during which Coomber, aged 39 and residing in Howland, Orton Goldhay, engaged in repeated acts of sexual abuse against the minor.

The conviction was handed down at Peterborough Crown Court, where Coomber was found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a child. Despite the severity of the charges, he was acquitted on three counts of rape, but the court determined that the evidence supported his guilt on the other charges. As a result, he received a prison sentence of four years. Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.

Furthermore, the court imposed a sexual offences prevention order (SOPO), which explicitly prohibits Coomber from having any unsupervised contact with children. Detective Constable Heidi Hensey, who led the investigation, emphasized the court's stance on such offenses, stating, "This sentence demonstrates how seriously this type of offence is taken by the courts. Coomber was very manipulative and controlling, and the SOPO will act as a deterrent to further offending when he is released from prison."
