BARRIE DAY FROM ORTON GOLDAHY JAILED FOR REPEATED SEX OFFENCE ORDER BREACHES IN PETERBOROUGH

In a significant case that underscores the seriousness of compliance with court orders, Barrie Day, a 60-year-old resident of Orton Goldhay, was sentenced to a two-year prison term after being found guilty of violating a Sexual Offences Prevention Order on two separate occasions.

The incidents occurred following visits by law enforcement officers to Day’s residence in Howland, Orton Goldhay, in July 2015 and again in May of the current year.

During both visits, officers discovered and confiscated electronic devices from Day’s home that were in direct violation of the restrictions imposed by his Sexual Offences Prevention Order.

These devices contained indecent images of children, which is a serious breach of the conditions set forth to prevent further offenses and protect the community.

The Sexual Offences Prevention Order was initially issued to Day after he was convicted in 2012 of a sexual offence.

The order was designed to restrict his access to certain materials and prevent him from engaging in activities that could harm children or facilitate further offences.

Despite these legal restrictions, Day deliberately and repeatedly violated the terms of the order, leading to his arrest and subsequent prosecution.

During the court proceedings held at Peterborough Crown Court on June 13, Day Day pleaded guilty to the charges of breaching the prevention order.

The court sentenced him to serve two years in prison, with the understanding that he will spend one year behind bars before being eligible for release on licence.

Detective Constable Sharon Popple commented on the case, emphasizing the importance of adherence to court orders: “Day deliberately and repeatedly breached his Sexual Offences Prevention Order.

I hope the sentence acts as a warning to other people who are subject to this type of order that breaches will not be tolerated.” This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to monitor and enforce restrictions placed on individuals convicted of sexual offences, aiming to safeguard the community and prevent further harm.
