TEENAGE GERMAN AU PAIR JAILED FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AT EDINBURGH AIRPORT
A 19-year-old man named Jan Wiegand was detained at Edinburgh Airport after only 24 hours in Scotland. He had arrived from Germany under the pretense of working as an au pair for a Scottish family.
However, he was immediately intercepted due to serious allegations.
An investigation revealed that he possessed a disturbing collection of child, animal, and death pornographic images on his phone.
Wiegand initially appeared in Dundee Sheriff Court in April of the previous year, where he was granted bail and allowed to return to Germany despite the evidence.
Recently, he faced Perth Sheriff Court via live video link, admitting possession of child sex abuse images at Dundee police HQ on March 26 of the previous year.
He also confessed to having extreme images depicting acts of bestiality and necrophilia.
Wiegand was described as unemployed and living with his mother and stepfather.
The court heard that he was staying in Scotland only briefly before his arrest and prosecution.
His solicitor stated he was also involved in a similar German legal case.
Wiegand was released on bail but was fined £800 and placed on the UK sex offenders register for five years.
The sheriff indicated that further legal intervention would be more appropriate in Germany, where he has pending cases.
