2015: FARNWORTH MAN JAILED FOR BEATING PARTNER IN FRONT OF 2-YEAR-OLD CHILD

A man from Farnworth has received a jail sentence after being found guilty of a prolonged assault on his partner, which took place in the presence of their two-year-old child.

Jamie Walsh, aged 28, was handed a 16-week prison term by magistrates on January 29.

The incident happened on December 23, with the young child present in the same room, despite Walsh being on bail at the time.

Initially, Walsh denied committing the assault but changed his plea to guilty during a hearing on Thursday.

In addition to his custodial sentence, he was ordered to pay an £80 victim surcharge and was issued a restraining order that prevents him from contacting the woman involved.
