WOMAN STALKED WITH FAKE FACEBOOK ACCOUNTS BY HUCKNALL MAN JAILED
A stalker created nine fake Facebook accounts and used them to bombard a woman with threatening messages.
Nottingham Crown Court heard how Jamie Parker, of Hucknall, used false names to contact the woman, who had a restraining order granted just a week before the messaging began.
He intimated he would blow up the address she was staying at and on one occasion tried to stop her from going to work by blocking her car at her friend's address.
In total, her life was significantly disrupted, forcing her to change her lifestyle, alter her telephone number, and install CCTV.
The judge described his behaviour as persistent, planned, nasty, and intended to cause distress.
Parker pleaded guilty to stalking and breaching a restraining order and was sentenced to two years and 10 weeks imprisonment.
A new five-year order was handed down not to contact the woman or visit her street, her workplace, or her associates.
Detective Constable Kerry Stringfellow of Nottinghamshire Police highlighted the serious impact on the victim and the importance of reporting stalking behaviors, which can include unwanted repeated activities either in person or remotely.
