JAMIE ELSWORTHY SHOCKS BOURNEMOUTH WITH CRUEL DOG ATTACK IN WINTON BEER GARDEN

Jamie Elsworthy, also known as Jamie Hill, a man born around 1970 and residing on Bath Road in Bournemouth, was involved in a disturbing incident that drew widespread condemnation.

On April 14, 2019, in the beer garden of the Buffalo Bar located in Woodend Road, Bournemouth, Elsworthy committed an act of animal cruelty that shocked the local community and garnered significant media attention.

According to reports, Elsworthy was captured on CCTV footage violently attacking a defenseless dog.

The footage shows him hitting, kicking, and ultimately throwing the animal against a wall in a fit of rage.

The incident took place in the beer garden of the Buffalo Bar, which at the time was situated on Woodend Road in Winton.

It is noteworthy that the bar has since relocated, but the incident remains a dark chapter in the area’s recent history.

Following the incident, police issued an appeal for information through CCTV footage, as officers were initially unable to identify Elsworthy or determine the identity of the dog's owner.

The appeal was published in the Daily Echo, which prompted over 100 members of the public to express their outrage and concern over the cruelty inflicted upon the animal.

Eventually, Elsworthy admitted to the charges and appeared before Poole magistrates on August 21, 2019.

He pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, specifically a dog, by throwing it against a wall, kicking it, and hitting it.

The charge was brought under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

Police confirmed that, despite the severity of the attack, the dog did not sustain any lasting injuries.

In addition to the animal cruelty charge, Elsworthy also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender himself to custody at Poole magistrates’ court on August 9, 2019.

The RSPCA issued a statement condemning the attack, describing it as “upsetting and shocking,” emphasizing that no animal should ever be subjected to such treatment.

Regarding sentencing, Elsworthy received a community order that included a requirement to participate in a rehabilitation activity.

He was also ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work.

Due to his failure to surrender to custody, he was additionally sentenced to carry out a further 100 hours of unpaid work.

The court imposed total costs and charges amounting to £170.

Furthermore, Elsworthy was handed a three-year ban on keeping animals, which was set to expire in August 2023.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of animal welfare and the consequences faced by those who commit acts of cruelty.

The community and animal rights organizations continue to advocate for stronger protections and harsher penalties for offenders like Jamie Elsworthy.
