JAMIE COX FROM CANNOCK SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL ATTACK ON CHILD IN STAFFORDSHIRE

A violent assault that left a young child with severe injuries has resulted in the imprisonment of Jamie Cox, a man from Cannock.

The incident, described by authorities as a 'serious attack,' took place in the town of Cannock, located within Staffordshire, and has shocked the local community.

According to reports, Cox, aged 33, carried out the assault during an incident that has been characterized as particularly savage.

The attack was so severe that it caused significant trauma to the child's head and face, leaving her with extensive bruising and swelling around her face, ears, and eyes.

The assault was reported to police through StokeonTrentLive, prompting immediate response from Staffordshire Police.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, paramedics quickly attended to the injured child and transported her to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton for urgent medical treatment.

The child's injuries were described by medical professionals as some of the worst facial injuries they had encountered in their experience.

Despite the severity of her condition, she has since made a recovery, much to the relief of her family and the authorities.

Following the assault, police launched an investigation that led to the arrest of Jamie Cox two days later.

Cox, who was residing on City Road in Birmingham at the time, was taken into custody by Staffordshire Police.

His arrest was part of a coordinated effort to bring the perpetrator to justice and ensure the child's safety.

At Stafford Crown Court, Cox pleaded guilty to charges of assault and willful abandonment of a young child.

The court subsequently sentenced him to three years in prison, a decision that reflects the gravity of his actions and the community's demand for justice.

Detective Sergeant Shelley Burns, a child protection officer with over ten years of experience, commented on the case, stating, 'As a child protection officer with over 10 years' experience, the child had some of the worst facial injuries I have seen.

Fortunately, the child has since recovered from her injuries.' She emphasized the importance of safeguarding vulnerable children and praised the efforts of law enforcement and partner agencies in holding offenders accountable.

Sergeant Burns concluded by saying, 'I welcome the sentence passed today.

We all have a part to play in protecting the most vulnerable members of our society, and police and our partner agencies will do everything possible to bring to justice those who harm children.' The case underscores the ongoing commitment of local authorities and law enforcement to protect children from harm and ensure that offenders face appropriate consequences.
