JAMES SORLEY FROM DUMBARTON JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AND SUPPLYING ALCOHOL TO TEENAGE GIRLS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Dumbarton, James Sorley, a 69-year-old resident of the town, has been sentenced to prison after admitting to a series of serious criminal acts involving underage girls. The incidents, which spanned from October 1, 2018, to February 16, 2019, took place primarily at Sorley's home on Risk Street, located in the heart of Dumbarton.According to court reports, Sorley engaged in a pattern of inappropriate and illegal conduct involving multiple teenage girls. He was found to have supplied alcohol to a number of school-aged girls, some as young as 14, in an apparent attempt to facilitate their intoxication and possibly to lower their inhibitions. In addition to providing alcohol, Sorley made lewd and sexually suggestive comments to the teenagers, further compounding the severity of his misconduct.
Furthermore, Sorley extended invitations to the girls, offering them cigarettes and even suggesting that they stay overnight at his residence. These actions raised significant concerns about his intentions and the safety of the minors involved.
The most egregious aspects of Sorley's behavior involved his explicit exposure of his genitals in a sexual manner on multiple occasions. Court records indicate that he performed a sex act in front of two 14-year-old girls, an act that constitutes a serious sexual offense. Overall, eleven schoolgirls were involved in the incidents, highlighting the extent of Sorley's predatory behavior.
During the court proceedings, Sheriff William Gallacher addressed Sorley's guilty plea, emphasizing the gravity of the charges. The sheriff stated, “You pled guilty to what are very serious charges,” underscoring the severity of the crimes committed.
As a result of his convictions, Sorley was sentenced to 15 months in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, a measure intended to monitor his activities and prevent further harm to the community. The case has left a lasting impact on the residents of Dumbarton, raising concerns about safeguarding minors and the importance of vigilant law enforcement in protecting vulnerable individuals from predatory behavior.
