PERTH LIFEGUARD JAILED FOR GROOMING 13-YEAR-OLD WITH SEXUAL TEXTS AND FACETIME EXPOSURE
A lifeguard named James Rodger, aged 18, who was employed at Perth Leisure Pool, has been involved in grooming a 13-year-old girl. The court heard that Rodger met the girl at the pool where he worked, and after they exchanged contact details, their messages quickly became sexually explicit.
The girl attempted to hide the correspondence from her mother by deleting messages, but her mother discovered thousands of text messages filled with sexual innuendo.
The incident escalated when Rodger exposed himself during a late-night FaceTime video call, wearing only boxers and pulling them down on camera to show his erect penis to the girl.
She later texted him that she found the exposure 'so fricking hot' and expressed her experience on the call.
Rodger admitted in court to causing the child to view a sexual image during a video call and engaging in indecent communication with her in March of the previous year.
Following his court appearance, Rodger's details were added to the Sex Offenders Register, and he was released on bail while awaiting further reports.
The court proceedings highlighted the severity of his actions and the breach of trust involved in his conduct.
