MAN JAILED FOR 15 YEARS AFTER ATTEMPTING TO RAPE WOMAN IN NEASDEN PARK
James Nicolaou, 29, has been jailed for 15 years for attacking a woman taking her summer walk in Neasden Recreation Ground.
The victim, in her 60s, was subjected to a horrible attack where a man hiding in the bushes jumped out and grabbed her bottom.
Threatening her with a knife, he exposed himself before attempting to rape her.
She fell and lost consciousness during the attack.
After the incident, she took herself to a north London hospital with head injuries and bruising, reporting the assault on August 2.
Forensic enquiries identified Nicolaou, who was arrested on August 7 and charged the following day.
He was found guilty of two counts of attempted rape, sexual assault, and possession of a knife.
He was jailed for 15 years at Harrow Crown Court and will serve a further four years on license after his release.
The police spokesperson emphasized that Nicolaou is considered dangerous, and the victim has shown considerable courage throughout the investigation.
