NEASDEN OFFENDER SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR SENSELESS MURDER
A man named Justice Cruickshank has been sentenced to a minimum of 22 years in prison for the murder of Helen Dillon, who was killed after being stabbed in the street with a martial arts sword. The incident took place in Prout Grove, Neasden, northwest London, on the 29th of May.
The 55-year-old was convicted of murder following a trial where a jury of eight men and four women unanimously found him guilty.
The court, held at Isleworth Crown Court, sentenced him to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 22 years before he can seek parole.
Judge Richard McGregor-Johnson called the killing ‘senseless’ and ‘needless,’ and pointed out that Cruickshank’s decision to bring a weapon despite being told not to, combined with a rage fueled by alcohol, was what led to Ms Dillon’s death.
During the attack, Ms Dillon, a mother of one, was backed against a garage door and stabbed in the chest using a Japanese sword.
The injury caused the severing of two arteries and lung damage, which resulted in her death.
Witnesses indicated Cruickshank had prior conflicts with Ms Dillon and her boyfriend, Tom Woods, including previous assaults involving a knife.
Court evidence revealed Cruickshank punched and kicked Ms Dillon before he wielded the sword, hitting her in the chest with significant force.
After the attack, he left the scene quietly, while the post-mortem confirmed the extent of her fatal injuries.
It was also noted that his alcohol use and decision to carry a weapon contributed directly to the tragic loss of life.
