BELFAST MAN SENTENCED FOR PARCEL HARASSMENT CAMPAIGN WITH SEXUAL CONTENT
James Moylan, a 62-year-old man, pleaded guilty to sending parcels of a sexual nature to three women during a campaign of harassment.
He was handed a three-year probation order at Laganside Crown Court in Belfast after admitting to three counts of harassment.
The court was told that in July 2022, Moylan sent obscene items through the mail to various victims, including a pair of vibrating pants addressed to 'Lovely Lady', black underwear with semen on it, a white lace bra, and multiple condoms.
Additional parcels contained lingerie, a vibrator, KY Jelly with the word 'Enjoy', and a Cadbury’s chocolate bar with a note saying 'Use lipstick wisely.' Police identified Moylan after he posted the items and interviewed him, during which he claimed he had an addiction to alcohol and no memory of the incidents.
He expressed remorse outside court, stating he was 'off his head' at the time due to mixing drink with prescription medication, which he took following personal losses and grief.
The judge, Judge Gilpin, recognized the harm caused to victims and emphasized the invasion of their privacy, noting that some women had to change their homes and jobs due to the ordeal.
Moylan was also issued a five-year restraining order, and any breach could result in a custodial sentence.
