'MONSTER' RAPIST JAMES KEANEY JAILED FOR 12 YEARS - BBC NEWS
A security guard has been jailed for 12 years after being convicted of raping and physically abusing two girlfriends. The High Court in Glasgow heard that 36-year-old James Keaney's brutality began in each case when the women became pregnant.
One victim, aged 37 and unnamed for legal reasons, was raped while returning home from hospital with her baby.
Keaney dragged her across the kitchen, pinned her to the floor, removed her clothes, and had sex with her against her will, saying, "That's what you get for having a child to someone else." She reported that abuse started early in her pregnancy and continued almost daily, including regular rapes.
The second woman, aged 32, also suffered similar abuse when she became pregnant, with Keaney preventing her from seeing her family, taking her house keys, and taking the pram in his car.
Keaney also listened to her phone calls and she said, "If I saw a boy I knew from school I wouldn't even look at him because of the accusations and interrogations that would follow." Prosecutor Paul Kearney told the court: "This was a clear course of conduct on his part characterized by intimidation and physical and sexual abuse in private behind locked doors." Keaney was convicted of raping and abusing the women between 1996 and 2005 in Glasgow.
Despite evidence, Keaney claimed both women lied to frame him.
Defense QC Garry Allan said Keaney still maintains innocence and was "absolutely terrified" about going to prison.
Judge Norman Ritchie QC sentenced Keaney to 12 years with four years of supervision upon release, and he will be placed on the sex offenders' register.
The judge commended the women for their bravery in disclosing and testifying about the horrific abuse.
