YOUTUBE STALKER WHO TARGETED WOMAN AND HER DAD IN INVERNESS IS SENTENCED
James Grant, 46, shared videos of himself wearing a black mask and hat and targeting a neighbour and his daughter. The videos, posted online under the alias Trap Mafia, included offensive and derogatory remarks about the victim and her father.
The court heard that the videos began just days after Grant’s neighbour made a noise complaint against him.
Grant appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court for sentencing after admitting to engaging in a course of behaviour that caused fear or alarm between March 8 and May 8, 2024.
He repeatedly watched the woman visiting her father’s house, uploaded videos making offensive remarks, and behaved threateningly, even abusing police officers in the films.
The woman felt scared, but tried to ignore it.
After a noise complaint, her father saw Grant’s videos, which referenced her job as a police officer and gave her work and vehicle details, as well as derogatory remarks about her father.
Sherman Sheriff Gary Aitken described his behaviour as 'glaringly inappropriate' but did not jail him, instead placing him on a community payback order with 18 months supervision and 200 hours of unpaid work.
Grant was also ordered not to contact the woman or her father for five years, and seized cameras were forfeited.
