DRUNK EDINBURGH THUG JAKE MURRAY CALLED 999 ON HIMSELF AFTER BEATING HIS PREGNANT PARTNER
A man who physically assaulted his partner while they were residing in a homeless shelter in Kirkcaldy contacted emergency services to report himself.Jake Murray, currently residing on Corstorphine Road in Edinburgh, appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court for sentencing after admitting to the domestic assault charge.
The case had been scheduled for a jury trial earlier this year, but he pleaded guilty beforehand.
The 25-year-old and his partner were staying in accommodation on Kirkcaldy’s High Street and had been drinking on August 9 of the previous year.
According to court proceedings, Murray consumed five or six pints of beer before heading out again after they returned to their lodging for a bottle of Buckfast tonic wine.
During a confrontation in the early hours, Murray, who believed his partner to be pregnant, became aggressive, repeatedly slapping her face and kicking her side once.
He also threw a juice can that hit her on the head, causing a small 1cm cut.
Following the incident, the woman sought safety with another resident, and Murray called emergency services himself.
The court was informed that Murray has prior criminal convictions from his time in England but had not committed offences in Scotland up to that point.
His solicitor, Yvonne McKenna, explained that Murray has some mental health diagnoses and is under the care of a community psychiatric nurse who visits weekly.
He has resumed taking his prescribed medication.
Sheriff James Williamson sentenced Murray to 190 hours of unpaid work, imposed two-year non-harassment orders, and placed him under supervision for 18 months, during which he must engage in any recommended courses of treatment.
