DRUNKEN OFFENDER JAILED FOR DAMAGING PARTNER'S CAR WITH BATON
Drunken Jake Anderson was caught by police with a baton after he damaged his partner's car because she refused to let him inside. The incident involved Anderson arriving at her address in Bentilee, but she refused entry due to his intoxication and her sleeping children.
He then banged on her door for two hours, threatening to 'kick the door in', before producing a baton and hitting her car on January 18.
Fiona Cortese, prosecuting, stated that Anderson had known the victim for 10 years, and they had been in a relationship since April the previous year.
When he was released from prison in October, issues with alcohol arose, and she asked him not to attend when drinking.
On the night of the incident, he returned to her house intoxicated, and after banging for hours, he used the baton to damage her vehicle, including hitting the rear window and kicking the side mirrors.
Police found the baton in his possession and he admitted to having it, answering 'no comment' in interview.
Anderson pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon and damage to property.
Judge Paul Glenn sentenced him to nine months in prison and highlighted his history of offending since age 12 or 13, noting that he was on license when committing these offences.
He was also described as a prolific offender with previous prison time, and the court case detailed his ongoing issues with alcohol and previous involvement with drugs.
