JACK WALKER SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS FOR RAPE IN MARKET DEEPING
A man identified as Jack Walker has been sentenced to a prison term of seven years following his conviction for the serious crime of rape. The incident took place in the Market Deeping area, where Walker was residing at the time of the offences last July. The court proceedings revealed that Walker was found guilty of one count of rape, as well as charges of assault causing actual bodily harm and battery, after two separate trials held at Lincoln Crown Court.During the trial, Walker was acquitted of a second rape allegation, but he did admit to a charge of criminal damage involving a fence post. The conviction and sentencing come after a harrowing impact statement from the victim, who described her ongoing struggles since the assault. She expressed that she now keeps her doors locked at all times, feeling as though she is living as a prisoner within her own home. The woman conveyed her constant state of fear and her difficulty in trusting others, stating, “Hopefully after getting justice I will get my life back.”
The court also heard that Walker had a prior criminal record, including an 18-month jail sentence handed down in August 2022 for offences related to stalking and malicious communications. This history was considered during the sentencing process, emphasizing the pattern of concerning behaviour.
Stuart Lody, representing Walker, argued that his client still denied all allegations except for the criminal damage charge. “He does not accept the convictions,” Mr. Lody told the court, highlighting Walker’s stance on the charges.
Judge James House KC delivered the sentence, emphasizing the profound impact on the victim. “She described herself as feeling broken,” the judge stated. “Her life has been dramatically affected by his actions.” In addition to the prison term, Walker was subject to a restraining order that prohibits any contact with the victim. Furthermore, he is required to register as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community and the victim from further harm.
