TWO MEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH LEAMINGTON RAPE INCIDENT
Jack Smith, 21, of Hob Lane in Burton Green, was charged with rape and committing an offence with the intention of committing a relevant sexual offence following an incident on Sunday (January 14).The investigation began after police received a report that a female was raped by two men on that day.
Smith appeared at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (January 17) and was remanded to appear at Warwick Crown Court on February 23.
Police are still trying to identify a cyclist who spoke to the victim shortly after the incident at around 7pm near the Vue cinema in Augusta Place.
The cyclist, described as a woman in her mid-40s with shoulder-length dark hair, was wearing a three-quarter-length coat and riding a white bike.
The officer confirmed the importance of identifying this witness to understand the case better.
