GLASGOW SOCIAL WORKER WHO DISTRIBUTED INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN STRUCK OFF
Former Glasgow social care worker Jack Paterson was convicted of possessing and distributing indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children, but failed to notify his employer or the Scottish Social Services Council. He was convicted at Glasgow Sheriff Court in May 2024 of possessing indecent images and pseudo-images of children, and of distributing or showing these images over a period between October 2018 and April 2022.
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) panel struck him off after he was hauled before them.
The panel expressed serious concern about his character and values, stating that his actions are considered a form of abuse and contribute to child exploitation.
They highlighted his failure to report the charges and his lack of remorse or insight, deeming his behaviour incompatible with professional registration.
Paterson’s name was officially removed from the social services register, effective October 7, 2025.
