JACK EWAN PREDATOR FROM PERTH CAUGHT IN SEX OFFENDER SCANDAL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Perth community, Jack Ewan, a young man who has since changed his name from Jack Pert, was brought before the city’s sheriff court to face serious allegations of sexual misconduct involving underage girls.The incident, which spanned over a three-month period, involved Ewan, a cadet instructor, abusing his position of authority to prey on vulnerable young girls under his care.
According to court reports, Ewan targeted multiple schoolgirls, all aged 14, through social media platforms.
He used these channels to demand private meetings, sexual acts, and explicit images or videos from the girls.
The police investigation was triggered after concerns were raised by the parents of a third girl, who contacted the army cadet headquarters to express their worries about the nature of the communications between their daughter and Ewan.
Although no criminal evidence was initially found in the contact, the parents’ concerns about the age difference and inappropriate messaging prompted immediate police action.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Ewan persistently bombarded the girls with requests for nighttime meetings near their homes, refusing to accept their refusals.
When the girls repeatedly declined his advances, he shifted tactics, asking for sexually explicit images and videos instead.
Court documents detailed how one girl, after being pressured and bullied, eventually sent a short video of herself engaged in a sexual act.
Ewan responded swiftly with a sexually explicit file, which appeared to depict him engaged in a solo sexual act.
Further, he was also accused of targeting a second girl with similar requests for meetings and explicit content, often accompanied by a winking emoji, which he used to suggest sexual intent.
One of the girls, recognizing the inappropriate nature of his messages, chose to block him after he made further unwelcome requests for nude images or videos.
It was only in September that the full extent of Ewan’s misconduct came to light.
The parents of the third girl, alarmed by the ongoing communication, reported the matter to the police.
Ewan was immediately suspended from his duties as a cadet instructor.
During police interviews, he initially denied most allegations but later admitted to contacting two of the girls and acknowledged that he was aware of their ages when he messaged them in secret.
Ewan, who resides on Allison Crescent, pleaded guilty to charges related to two of the girls.
He admitted to sending messages between July 1, 2016, and September 7, 2016, requesting sexual acts and indecent images from one girl, and requesting similar images from the second girl.
The court heard that Ewan’s actions constituted serious sexual offences, breaching the trust placed in him as an instructor.
In sentencing, Sheriff Simon Collins emphasized the gravity of the breach of trust and the abuse of authority involved in the case.
Ewan was sentenced to a community payback order, requiring him to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and to engage with social workers over the next two years.
Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders register for two years, marking a significant consequence for his actions and serving as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable young people from exploitation and abuse.
