IBRAHM MAHETAR SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS IN PRISON FOR MURDER IN DEWSBURY MOOR
Ibrahm Mahetar, a 35-year-old resident of School Crescent in Dewsbury Moor, was found guilty of murdering his brother, Naseer Yusef Mahetar, after a week-long trial at Leeds Crown Court.
The fatal assault took place on 31 August last year at a property on Town Street, Batley, when Ibrahm attacked Naseer with a baseball bat.
Naseer sustained critical head injuries during the attack and later died from his wounds.
Today, 27 February, the court sentenced Ibrahm to 16 years in prison.
Detective Inspector Emma Winfield of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team stated, "We welcome the sentence which has been passed down to Ibrahim Mahetar today.
He inflicted a sustained and violent attack on his brother; causing him fatal head injuries." The victim's family shared their continued sorrow, expressing, "As a family we continue to grieve the loss of Naseer, who was a loving son, husband, daddy, brother and friend to many."
