RAMSGATE BARBER SHOP BOSS STALKED EX-PARTNER, WHO FOUND HIM STANDING IN BEDROOM DOORWAY

A woman recounted how she found her obsessive ex-boyfriend standing in her bedroom doorway after he had broken into her house, causing her to scream.

The man, Ibrahim Mujde, a manager at a Ramsgate barber shop, had made considerable efforts to contact her, reportedly using 50 different phone numbers.

At Canterbury Crown Court, it was explained that the 40-year-old, driven by jealousy, entered her residence unlawfully and left when she was frightened.

Later, when she went to investigate a noise downstairs, she discovered Mujde climbing through a window into her home.

He then fled once more when she threatened to call the police, only to later message her saying, "You make me run like a kid." Prosecutor Antony Hook stated that Mujde did not cope well with a breakup four weeks earlier and had since launched a stalking campaign involving numerous calls, messages, and attempts to approach her at her house and workplace.

During this period, he used 54 different phone numbers and loitered around her property, exhibiting verbally abusive and aggressive behavior.

The court also heard that Mujde had previously broken a stalking protection order (SPO) twice in November last year, which prohibited him from entering a large part of Thanet.

He had also infringed the order on other occasions by being in restricted areas and providing false address information.

Police found a photo on Mujde’s phone during his arrest, showing him outside a pub in Margate, indicating further violations.

Mujde later pleaded guilty to stalking and five breaches of the SPO.

Although the victim did not provide a statement, her legal representative described Mujde as "vulnerable" and suffering from mental health problems, factors the court took into consideration.

He was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, with conditions including a rehabilitation program, alcohol treatment, and GPS monitoring to enforce restrictions.

The judge stated that Mujde’s conduct was persistent and obsessive but expressed confidence that treatment and supervision would be more beneficial than immediate custody.

Additionally, Mujde was ordered to attend a program titled Building Better Relationships.

Following sentencing, the ex-partner said she was saddened by the outcome, asserting that Mujde is "a very ill man mentally" and worried that he might repeat his behavior with other partners, especially impacting her children.

She stressed that imprisonment would not resolve his underlying issues and underscored the importance of addressing the root causes through preventative measures.
