BLACKBURN MAN TAKES HIS HARD DRIVE WITH INDECENT IMAGES TO POLICE
A 44-year-old man went to a police station with the hard drive from his computer and confessed he had uploaded images of young teenage girls.Blackburn magistrates heard that without Ian Saxton’s admissions his activities would never have come to light.
But Liz Parker, defending, said her client’s conscience had pricked him so badly he had felt compelled to go to the police.
Saxton, of Sandon Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to 16 charges of making indecent images of children.
He was made subject to community supervision for 12 months, ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work.
He was put on the sex offender register for five years.
Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said Saxton went to the police station and asked to speak to an officer.
“He wanted to confess to looking at some images of young females on his computer,” said Miss Akhtar.
“He said he had been out drinking and when he came home felt lonely.
He went on his computer on a porn chat room and got encouragement from other users of the site.” Miss Akhtar said Saxton told police he went to bed and in the morning uploaded more images of young girls.
“He said he had come to the police station because he was ashamed and he wanted to get it sorted out,” said Miss Akhtar.
Mrs Parker said Saxton, a graphic designer, had no convictions or warnings of any kind.
“It is clear that if he hadn’t gone to the police station he would not have been in court,” said Mrs Parker.
