IAN SAVAGE FROM ILFORD REARRESTED FOR VIOLATING SEX OFFENDERS PREVENTION ORDER IN REDBRIDGE

In a recent development in the ongoing efforts to monitor and control convicted sex offenders, Ian Savage, a man originally from Ilford, has been taken back into custody after allegedly breaching the conditions of his Sexual Offences Prevention Order. Savage, aged 50 and residing on Coventry Road in Ilford, has a criminal history that dates back to 2007 when he was convicted of sexual offences involving a minor.

Following his conviction, Savage was sentenced to a three-year imprisonment term. Upon his release from prison, authorities imposed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) to restrict his interactions with children and to prevent any potential reoffending. The terms of this order explicitly prohibited him from seeking out or being in the company of children, visiting locations where children are present without prior notification to their parents, and working with children in any capacity. Additionally, Savage was placed on the sex offenders register for life, a measure designed to facilitate ongoing monitoring and ensure public safety.

Despite these strict conditions, law enforcement officials in Redbridge received credible information indicating that Savage was violating the terms of his SOPO. Acting swiftly on this intelligence, police officers arrested him on October 24. The case was brought before Redbridge Magistrate’s Court, where Savage appeared on November 13. Subsequently, at Snaresbrook Crown Court on December 6, he was sentenced to an additional 16 months in prison for breaching the order.

Det Insp Craig Robinson, based at Ilford Police Station, commended the efforts of the police team involved in this case. He specifically highlighted the diligent work of Detective Constable Claire Phillips and her colleagues, stating, “This was a very good piece of work from DC Claire Phillips and her team.” The case underscores the ongoing commitment of law enforcement agencies in Ilford and the wider Redbridge area to enforce restrictions on sex offenders and protect vulnerable members of the community.
