RHYL MAN IAN CADD CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Rhyl, Ian Andrew Cadd, aged 29, faced serious allegations related to the possession and download of indecent images involving young children.

The incident came to light after police executed a search warrant at his residence on Barry Road South, Rhyl, on October 4, 2018, following intelligence reports indicating that illegal material had been accessed from his home.

During the raid, officers seized two laptops and a mobile phone, which were subsequently subjected to forensic analysis.

The investigation revealed that Cadd had downloaded software designed to facilitate anonymous internet browsing, raising suspicions about his online activities.

Further examination uncovered that he had accessed and stored a total of 16 images classified as Category C, the lowest grade for child abuse images.

Additionally, he was found to possess eight images categorized as B and 16 images along with a movie classified as Category A, which depicts the most severe form of illegal content involving minors.

Prosecutor Simon Rodgers detailed the findings, stating that the images contained explicit content involving children as young as seven and nine years old engaging in sexual acts with adult males.

One particularly disturbing piece of material was a film showing an 11-year-old girl performing sexual acts on a webcam.

These images had explicit titles, clearly indicating their disturbing nature and the age of the children involved.

In his police interview, Cadd admitted to the charges and expressed a sense of responsibility for his actions.

He explained that he had visited an online discussion board where links to such material were posted, including one labeled 'pre-teen hardcore.' Cadd claimed that his interest in viewing these images stemmed from a desire to understand how paedophiles think, as he had been sexually abused as a child himself.

He insisted that he was not a paedophile but was driven by what he described as 'morbid curiosity.' Cadd told officers that he did not fully understand what was happening in his own mind at the time.

Legal representatives for Cadd, including Sarah Yates, highlighted his previously good character and acknowledged the seriousness of his offences.

However, the court was clear in its stance on the gravity of the case.

Judge Rhys Rowlands emphasized the disturbing nature of the images, especially considering the ages of the children involved.

He condemned the defendant's explanation as 'ridiculous' and underscored the importance of addressing such behaviour.

As a result, Judge Rowlands sentenced Cadd to a two-year community order, which includes a requirement to participate in 40 hours of rehabilitation activities.

Additionally, Cadd was fined £500, ordered to register as a sex offender for five years, and required to pay £530 in costs along with a victim surcharge of £85.

The court's decision reflects the serious concern surrounding the possession and distribution of child abuse images and the need for ongoing monitoring and rehabilitation of offenders.
