WOMEN JAILED FOR SADISTIC MONKEY TORTURE VIDEOS
Two women have been sentenced for their involvement in a brutal monkey torture ring, with their actions described by the judge as 'depraved, sickening and wicked'.Adriana Orme, aged 56 from Upton-upon-Severn, and Holly Le Gresley, aged 37 from Kidderminster, had previously confessed to being part of a worldwide network.
The court heard graphic accounts of the suffering inflicted upon young macaques in Indonesia—videos of which were sold globally.
Le Gresley, identified as playing a 'leading role', received a two-year sentence, while Orme was sentenced to 15 months.
The judge declared their behavior as 'deplorable, abhorrent and sadistic', criticizing their lack of compassion and highlighting that their actions were 'beyond most of society's understanding'.
The investigation revealed that over 130 videos and 22 images were uploaded by Le Gresley, who had been cataloging and distributing the footage, including a payment made via PayPal to facilitate cruelty.
Police found thousands of files across 20 devices during a year-long probe.
The court also learned that the defendants participated in private online chat groups, such as one called 'The Torture King' based in the US, where they expressed enjoyment and encouraged further violence against the monkeys.
Le Gresley, who adopted the alias 'The Immolator', was aware she risked a prison sentence of up to five years and called herself the 'Torture King'.
Her defense cited her depression, anxiety, and possible autism diagnosis, as well as PTSD from the videos.
Police officials described the case as a landmark because it was the first time UK charges for animal cruelty were brought for offenses committed abroad where the perpetrators are in the UK.
Both women admitted their roles, with Le Gresley acknowledging her knowledge of the potential jail time, and the court rejected their requests for suspended sentences.
After sentencing, campaigners expressed deep dismay at the cruelty and the lack of empathy shown by the women.
