GLASGOW SEX PREDATOR WAS HANDED 17 YEARS IN JAIL
A SEXUAL predator asylum seeker who preyed on vulnerable young men was jailed for 17 years. The 30-year-old security guard, who moved to Britain from Chad, West Africa, in 2000, carried out the attacks between January 25 and July 23 last year and was finally snared by DNA evidence, the High Court in Glasgow heard.
Sentencing the rapist, Temporary Judge Ian Peebles QC told Atie: "It's quite clear that you are a sexual, violent predator who has targeted young and vulnerable men.
"There is a clear need to protect the general public and in particular young men from a person such as you." The judge added that Atie should be deported on the completion of his sentence.
His first victim was a 21-year-old man who was crying in Buchanan Street, Glasgow, after a row with his partner, on January 25 last year.
Atie asked if he was alright before dragging him into Springfield Lane where he forced him to repeatedly perform a sex act.
The victim managed to run away and was found later curled up in a shop doorway.
Victim number two was found wandering the streets on May 13 last year after being beaten and assaulted by Atie.
Atie took a 23-year-old man, upset after a row with his girlfriend, to a flat where he forcibly removed his clothing and forced him to have sex.
His third victim, an 18-year-old, ran away after Atie tried to kiss him and prevent him leaving his flat on June 1 last year.
Victim four was a very drunk 23-year-old found in George Square on July 25 last year; Atie took him to his flat, where he woke up to find himself being raped.
Police were called, leading to Atie's arrest.
