WOMAN JAILED FOR 'VIOLENT ATTACK' IN STRATFORD
Helen Kaplan, a 48-year-old resident of London, received a prison sentence of nine years and six months following her violent assault on an 80-year-old woman in Stratford upon Avon.The incident occurred in November of the previous year, during which Kaplan stabbed the victim multiple times.
The injured woman was found bleeding in the street and was transported to hospital, where she made a full recovery.
Kaplan was detained at a nearby McDonald's restaurant, where she was caught washing her hands.
A knife thought to be involved in the attack was recovered from a bin in the restaurant's toilets.
CCTV footage also captured Kaplan attempting to set fire to the victim’s home.
It was revealed that Kaplan knew the victim personally, and she openly stated she "wanted her dead" during the assault.
She pleaded guilty to charges of wounding with intent and arson.
The court imposed a sentence of nine and a half years for grievous bodily harm and an additional ten months for arson, to be served concurrently.
Warwickshire Police Detective Inspector Morris commended the investigative team, paying special tribute to their diligent handling of the case that ultimately resulted in Kaplan’s conviction.
