PAEDOPHILE JAILED AGAIN FOR OWNING ILLEGAL IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A serial sex offender who “cannot be trusted to behave lawfully” was found with hundreds of illegal images of children.
Haydon Sheard, 27, was convicted in 2018 for possessing and distributing similar images and was placed under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
The order required him to inform police about any internet-enabled devices he owned so monitoring software could be installed.
Despite this, during an unannounced police visit in April, Sheard was found acting suspiciously, with a mobile phone in his room.
The phone was checked and it was discovered he had been watching an indecent video of a child.
Officers searched his room and found an unnotified e-reader, a memory card, and two bank cards he had not declared.
His phone was later examined and contained 355 illegal images of children, of which five were the most severe category.
Sheard pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent images of children, five counts of breaching his SHPO, and one count of violating sex offender notification requirements.
On August 29, he was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court to two years and four months in prison, and his SHPO was extended for ten years.
Investigating officer PC Leona Valsler commented, 'Sheard has shown that he cannot be trusted to behave lawfully whilst living in the community and he is now serving a prison sentence.
It can only be hoped that he reflects on his actions as, when he is released, the restrictions on his behaviour will be more onerous and our inspections more frequent.'
