Harry Musson, aged 56, committed a sexual assault on a 35-year-old woman inside her residence in Barnsley during September 1990.
The case remained unresolved for many years until a review was conducted, resulting in a breakthrough thanks to new DNA analysis methods.
Musson, who resides on Foster Street in Barnsley, was subsequently sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of rape and burglary in December 2009.
These convictions came nearly two decades after the crimes were initially committed.
