Harpal Singh Sehra, whom many describe as 'evil', committed a brutal act of repeated rape against Julie Spence while her three children slept upstairs in their home in Ballingry. This assault took place just 12 days after he was granted bail on previous charges, which included allegations of assault and abduction against Julie. Sehra had a troubling history of violence, with three prior convictions for assault resulting in serious injuries. Julie chose to speak out publicly under her real name in an effort to support other survivors and to press for changes in sentencing laws for rapists. She expressed her disappointment, saying, 'I was very hurt when I found he was only getting four years in jail. That just seems like no justice.' Julie has also started a campaign advocating for stricter penalties, demanding that rapists serve a minimum of 20 years behind bars. She highlighted the enduring impact of her trauma by stating, 'When someone is raped by a rapist they don’t get raped just once – they get raped over and over in the form of flashbacks and memories.' Sehra was eventually sentenced to four years in prison for his crimes, prompting Julie to ask, 'How many lives could he destroy?'
