HAIDER SIDDIQUE AND SHOCKING SEXUAL OFFENCES IN BIRMINGHAM
A 22-year-old man named Haider Siddique has been sentenced to more than seven years behind bars after being convicted of serious sexual offences involving a vulnerable 13-year-old girl he encountered through online interactions. The incident came to light in March of the previous year when Dhider Siddique was seen by a bus driver behaving inappropriately, which prompted his arrest.
Siddique had been working as a student officer with West Midlands Police since 2021, a role he voluntarily resigned from after his arrest and subsequent guilty plea.
The police force publicly described his actions as "sickening," emphasizing the gravity of his misconduct.
The NSPCC, a prominent children’s charity, condemned Siddique’s conduct, highlighting that his actions involved targeted grooming and sexual abuse directed at a vulnerable young girl.
They emphasized that such behavior was an egregious breach of the trust placed in him, especially considering his training to serve as a police officer.
The charity also expressed appreciation for the bus driver who did not ignore the inappropriate conduct but instead took action by reporting it.
Legal proceedings culminated at Birmingham Crown Court in January, where Siddique admitted to two charges of engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
In light of his guilty plea, he was ordered to resign from the police force while he was in custody.
The police force’s internal procedures included an expedited misconduct hearing held in private, which confirmed that Siddique would have been dismissed if he had not already resigned.
It was clarified during the proceedings that Siddique had not been assigned to any operational role within the police force, reducing concerns about exposure of the public to his misconduct.
Deputy Chief Constable Scott Green issued a statement condemning Siddique’s actions, describing them as "sickening" and reaffirming that his colleagues would feel similarly revolted.
Beyond his prison sentence, Siddique face lifelong consequences.
He has been placed on the Sex Offender Register, which will track his activities for the rest of his life.
Additionally, he is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which bans him from participating in any form of internet contact with individuals under 16.
The order also prohibits any unsupervised contact with minors under 16 unless their parents are fully aware of Siddique’s past offences, aiming to prevent further harm.
This case underscores the importance of vigilance and the critical role that witnesses and community members play in safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
It also highlights the need for ongoing oversight and rigorous background checks within law enforcement institutions to maintain public trust and ensure such breaches are prevented in the future.
