BEACH PREDATOR ESCAPES JAIL AFTER STRESS, COURT HEARS
A 61-year-old man named Graham Roland from Cygnet Close, Northwood, Middlesex, has been involved in a sexual incident at Bournemouth beach last summer. He admitted to indecently assaulting a pregnant teenager and exposing himself to others.
During the court hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court, it was revealed that Roland approached a group of young women in the sea, pulled up his trunks, and exposed himself.
He was also observed removing his swimming trunks and holding them in the air.
Prosecutor Michael Mackey outlined that the beach was busy with children in the water when Roland engaged in this behaviour.
Police responded after Roland took a pregnant teenager's hand and invited her to touch him intimately.
His defence lawyer highlighted that Roland is a man of previous good character and was suffering from significant stress related to divorce, his relationship with his daughter, and his mother’s health at the time.
The judge, John Harrow, stated that it was unusual for someone of his age to offend for the first time, acknowledged his remorse, and noted that his conduct caused distress to the victim.
The judge sentenced him to a three-year community order, supervised for three years, and required him to attend a sex offender treatment programme.
Additionally, he must register as a sex offender for five years.
