ASH GREEN MAN GRAHAM COCKERILL JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENSES
Graham Cockerill, an offender from Ash Green, has been convicted of multiple serious sexual offences.
His crimes span several decades, including incidents in the 1970s in the Meriden area and more recent offences in Coventry between 2016 and 2022.
The police investigation revealed that Cockerill sexually abused three young girls, with charges including three counts of sexual assault on a girl under 13 by touching, two counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14, and one count of indecent assault of a female over 16.
Despite denying the allegations, Cockerill, aged 67, was found guilty in June at Warwick Crown Court.
He was sentenced on 5 August to seven years in prison, with a 10-year restraining order, a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and will be on the Sex Offenders' Register for life.
The case was notable for evidence gathered even about a victim who passed away in 1995 and never reported the offences.
Detective Constable James Manders praised the victims’ 'extraordinary bravery' and commended the efforts of the police and CPS to secure justice despite the passage of time.
The judge’s order emphasizes the severity and ongoing risk associated with his crimes.
