GRAHAM BAILLIE FROM EASTBOURNE PLEADS GUILTY TO CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AT HOVE CROWN COURT
In a serious case heard at Hove Crown Court, Graham Baillie, a 54-year-old man residing on Willingdon Road in Eastbourne, faced the court to answer charges related to the possession of indecent images of children. The proceedings took place on Friday, 29 January, and marked a significant development in the ongoing efforts to combat online child exploitation.
Baillie, who is currently unemployed, admitted to possessing a total of 249 indecent images depicting minors.
His guilty plea was a result of a thorough investigation conducted by the Sussex Police's Paedophile On-Line Investigation Unit (POLIT), which operates with a focus on identifying and apprehending individuals involved in the distribution and possession of child abuse material.
Following his admission, the court sentenced Baillie to a prison term of 12 months.
Additionally, he was designated as a registered sexual offender for a period of ten years, a measure intended to monitor and restrict his activities post-release.
To further prevent any potential reoffending, Baillie was also subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for ten years, which imposes strict limitations on his access to computers and online platforms.
It is important to note that the investigation revealed none of the images were believed to involve children from the local area, and there was no evidence to suggest that Baillie had engaged in any direct contact or physical offenses involving minors.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to tackle online child exploitation while highlighting that the threat can come from individuals across various regions, including Eastbourne.
