SCOTTISH CHEF CONVICTED OF INFECTING EX-GIRLFRIEND WITH HIV AND HEPATITIS C
A man called Giovanni Mola, 38, was convicted of infecting his former girlfriend with HIV and hepatitis C.
During the trial, it was revealed that Mola refused to disclose his infection status, failed to wear condoms, and infected Miss X between September 2003 and February 2004 in Edinburgh.
The jury took 80 minutes to find him guilty of culpably and recklessly failing to inform Miss X of his infection, putting her life at risk.
He showed no emotion when led to the cells after conviction.
Mola, who fled Scotland after being charged and was extradited from Italy, was described as having bedded 200 women, with fears that at least three others may have been infected.
The judge, Lord Hodge, emphasized the seriousness of the offence and condemned his indifference to the health of his victim.
