--------------------------- 2025-12-04 20:41: O'Neill, now aged 22, admitted three child sex offences and wept as he was spared jail at Birmingham Crown Court on Wednesday, November 4.
The predator, from Hall Green, first contacted the 15-year-old girl on Instagram in 2018, requesting to follow her and engaging in sexual conversations after she made it clear she was 15.
He saw pictures of her in her school uniform, which did not perturb him.
He tried to persuade her to meet secretly for sex, sent explicit pictures of himself, and engaged in sexual communication with her.
Prosecutor Jonathan Barker highlighted that O'Neill knew her age and behaved wrongly, suggesting clandestine meetups to have sexual activity.
Judge Dean Kershaw imposed a three-year community order, requiring O'Neill to participate in the Horizon sex offenders programme, carry out 25 days of rehabilitation activity, 160 hours of unpaid work, and pay court costs of £340.
The victim stated she was 'completely ruined' by the experience and felt damaged.
The court recognized harm caused but viewed O'Neill as not a serious risk to the public due to his good character and employment status.
