GERALD IVOR JAMES, THE SEX OFFENDER FROM ABERDARE AND STOKE-ON-TRENT, FOUND IN GWENT
In a recent development, Gerald Ivor James, a registered sex offender with a troubling criminal history, was located in Gwent after having gone missing from Stoke-on-Trent. The incident unfolded on a Monday evening when Mr. James, aged 36, disappeared from the bail hostel where he was residing in Stoke-on-Trent, prompting an immediate and extensive police search.Gerald Ivor James’s criminal record includes a sentence of two and a half years for the indecent assault of three young girls, all under the age of 14, in public areas within the Stoke-on-Trent region. His offenses, which drew significant public concern, also involved the possession of an offensive weapon, adding to the severity of his criminal profile.
Having been released from prison earlier in March of the same year, Mr. James was under supervision and living at a bail hostel in Stoke-on-Trent. His sudden disappearance was reported to the police by staff members of the hostel on the evening of the incident, triggering a swift response from law enforcement authorities.
Originally hailing from Aberdare, Gerald Ivor James had established residence in Stoke-on-Trent for several years prior to his release. His whereabouts remained unknown until authorities in Gwent confirmed that he had been found in Newport, a city within the Gwent region.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police stated, “A man has been arrested in Newport, Gwent. Steps will be taken to return him to prison as he was in breach of his release licence. He could be returned straight to prison or may have to make a brief court appearance.” The police are now coordinating efforts to ensure Mr. James is returned to serve the remainder of his sentence or face appropriate legal proceedings, given his breach of bail conditions and the serious nature of his previous convictions.
