MAN HANDED SUSPENDED SENTENCE AFTER DOMESTIC AND ANIMAL ABUSE CONVICTIONS
Lee Davis from Stoke-on-Trent has received a 21-month suspended prison term and a five-year restraining order following convictions for domestic and animal abuse.
During the court hearing, it was disclosed that Davis already faced three prior charges related to abuse, bringing his total to six domestic abuse allegations.
In October 2025, at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court, he was sentenced to a 12-month probation period, a 12-month community order, 90 hours of unpaid work, and 20 days of rehabilitation activity.
Additionally, he was ordered to pay court costs and a victim surcharge, and was banned for five years from owning, transporting, or controlling animals.
Evidence presented during the hearing indicated that Davis engaged in controlling and coercive behaviour along with physical violence, which are recognised as high-risk factors in domestic abuse cases.
The court's decision to impose a five-year ban on animal ownership was partly influenced by footage circulating online that depicted the mistreatment of puppies and dogs, raising serious concerns about animal welfare.
Davis will not face immediate detention unless he breaches the conditions of his suspended sentence.
He remains under a five-year restraining order preventing any contact with the victim.
