MAN PLEADS GUILTY AT GLASGOW SHERIFF COURT FOR INCIDENT IMAGES
A man caught with indecent images and has fantasies about children claims he is not a paedophile.Gerald Grant, 64, was snared with 458 still and moving pictures of kids as young as one at his home in Glasgow's Drumchapel.
Married Grant was further found to have visited websites which relate to child sex abuse stories.
Despite this, Grant proclaimed to police officers: "I don't consider myself a paedophile or a danger to children." First offender Grant pleaded guilty yesterday to possessing, taking and distributing indecent images of children.
The three charges span between June 2017 and October 2024.
The court heard after police received information, officers swooped at his home and were allowed entry by his wife.
Grant stated to them: "Listen, it's me, it has nothing to do with my wife, it's videos on my phone." A search recovered a Motorola phone which was seized for examination.
Grant was then arrested and said: "I am guilty of what is on the phone." He stated during an interview that he began looking at indecent images during the covid lockdown.
Grant created accounts on the device to send and receive the images.
Prosecutor Josh Dowie added: "He said that although he fantasises about being involved with a child, he doesn't see himself as a paedophile or a danger to children." A total of 419 still images of mainly female children aged between one and 14-years-old were found.
A total of 39 moving images of mainly female children aged between two and 14-years-old were also recovered.
Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Owen Mullan.
Grant had his bail continued and was put on the sex offenders register meantime.
