GEORGE HUNT FROM HYDE, GREATER MANCHESTER, SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE
In February 2012, George Hunt, a man from Hyde in Greater Manchester, was jailed for 14 years after abusing eight children over a period of 30 years.
Hunt, aged 56 and residing on Alexander Avenue, pleaded guilty to 12 counts of child abuse committed between January 1979 and October 2010.
The victims, seven girls and one boy, ranged in age from five to 17.
Police commended the bravery of the victims, stating that the investigation was initiated after one of them reported Hunt in May of the previous year.
Detective Constable Karen Evans emphasized, "It is a testament to their courage that they have come forward and we are now in a position where Hunt will be locked away for the foreseeable future." She added, "Hunt repeatedly abused the trust of innocent children over the course of 30 years." Update: George Hunt has now been released from custody.
