MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR BRUTALLY MURDERING WIFE IN HYDE
A 46-year-old man named Aubrey Pule Padi was found guilty of intentionally and violently killing his estranged wife, Tamara Padi, in a carefully planned assault carried out inside her residence while their young child was sleeping nearby.The court was informed that Padi had waited patiently, even setting his mobile alarm to confirm that Tamara was asleep before initiating his attack.
Tamara, a 43-year-old woman described as friendly and professional, had been working on a late-night care visit when she was violently assaulted.
She was stabbed eight times with kitchen knives during her attempt to defend herself.
Padi had entered her house hidden beforehand, armed with knives, a hammer, gloves, and cord—waiting until she returned home around 1:30 am.
At 3:30 am, after her alarm sounded, he attacked her using a metal pull-up bar and stabbed her repeatedly.
Later, he told an ambulance operator that he planned to kill himself and expressed that she ‘deserved it.’ He was arrested after providing police with his location, while intoxicated with whiskey and paracetamol.
Tamara was declared dead at the hospital.
It was revealed that the couple had separated in early 2021 after 14 years of marriage, with divorce proceedings expected soon.
Padi, who had no prior criminal record, showed no remorse during sentencing and sobbed as he received a life sentence with a minimum term of 23 years.
The judge called his actions “incomprehensible,” highlighting that Tamara had been afraid of him.
The court also described her final hours as brutal and reiterated that she did not deserve such treatment.
During the police call, Padi displayed a sense of self-pity, justifying his violence and blaming her for his behavior.
The impact on their children was emphasized, with the court noting they lost their mother and now have broken trust in their father.
Padi was originally from South Africa, and he and Tamara operated a business called Green Leaf Health and Social Care Ltd.
The attack was found to be premeditated and marked by numerous defensive injuries on the victim, with prosecutors calling the case tragic and shocking.
Judge Nicholls sentenced Padi for murder, citing the deliberate and calculated nature of his actions, which left the children motherless and caused significant family grief.
