GEORGE HARPER'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN INVERNESS AND WICK LEAD TO COURT WARNING

George Harper, a 42-year-old man originally from Wick, has found himself at the center of a serious legal case following a series of violent and threatening behaviors that took place in Inverness and Wick. Harper, who was living with his wife in Wick at the time, engaged in a tumultuous relationship with a woman he met in June 2021. Despite still residing with his wife, Harper proposed to his new partner just two weeks after they first met, a decision that would eventually lead to a pattern of abusive conduct.

Harper’s actions escalated during visits to Inverness, where he traveled to see his partner. On April 29, 2022, a neighbor observed Harper shouting, swearing, and issuing threats in the garden of the woman’s residence. The following day, during a social visit at her flat, Harper’s jealousy and suspicion about her interactions with another man boiled over. He physically assaulted her by striking her on the head, which caused her to fall across the room, an incident that required her to seek medical attention at a hospital.

Further violence and intimidation occurred on May 1, 2022. Neighbors reported hearing furniture being thrown, loud shouting, and screams for help emanating from the woman’s flat. Harper was heard telling her that he did not love her and cruelly urging her to kill herself. These distressing events culminated in the woman being hospitalized for treatment of her injuries. The court heard that Harper’s threatening and abusive behavior was not isolated, although his solicitor acknowledged during proceedings that he had a history of violence. However, it was also noted that there had been no prior incidents specifically involving this woman.

Harper appeared before Inverness Sheriff Court to face charges related to threatening or abusive behavior and assault. During the hearing, Sheriff MacDonald issued a stern warning to Harper, emphasizing that he could face imprisonment if convicted. The court decided to postpone sentencing to allow for further reports, with a case continuation scheduled for the following month. Harper, who resides at Bremners Walk in Wick, now faces the possibility of jail time for his actions, which include both threats and physical assault. The case remains ongoing, and Harper has been formally warned of the potential for a custodial sentence as the legal process continues.
