GAIL STEWART SHOCKS INVERNESS WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT ON SHOP WORKERS
Gail Stewart, a woman from Inverness, has been found guilty of engaging in inappropriate and unwanted physical contact with two male employees at a retail store located in Inverness. The incident, which took place within the store premises, involved Stewart repeatedly making unwanted advances towards the shop staff, causing significant discomfort and concern among the employees.According to court reports, Stewart's behavior was persistent and invasive. She first targeted one of the male workers by repeatedly touching his arm, and then proceeded to slap him on his backside. The staff member described feeling 'uncomfortable' due to her actions, which crossed personal boundaries and created an unsettling environment within the store.
Not stopping there, Stewart then approached another male employee and, without invitation, passed her arm around his waist before also touching his buttocks. The store staff, alarmed by her conduct, asked her to leave the premises. Her behavior was deemed inappropriate and disruptive, prompting the store personnel to call the police.
Police officers responded promptly and located Stewart outside the store. When they attempted to detain her, she resisted arrest and struggled against the officers, further complicating the situation. Her resistance was noted during her arrest, which was carried out with the necessary force to ensure compliance.
Following her apprehension, Stewart was brought before Inverness Sheriff Court. She admitted to two counts of sexual assault and one count of resisting officers during her arrest. The court proceedings included a request for background reports and assessments to determine her suitability for participation in the Moving Forward 2 Change programme, which is designed for sexual offenders seeking rehabilitation.
In her sentencing, Stewart, aged 34 and residing on Drumossie Road, Stratton, was placed on the sex offenders register with immediate effect. The length of her registration will be decided at a later date during the sentencing process, but her inclusion on the register signifies the seriousness of her offenses and the potential risk she poses to the community.
