GEORGE DUNLOP'S SHOCKING PERVERSION IN AYR: HUNDREDS OF SECRET PHOTOS OF WOMEN AND GIRLS

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Ayr, a window cleaner named George Dunlop was found to have secretly taken hundreds of photographs of women and young girls using his mobile phone. The heinous acts spanned over a period from April 2008 to February of the following year, revealing a pattern of predatory behavior that targeted unsuspecting victims in various public settings across the town.

According to court proceedings, Dunlop, aged 38 and still employed as a window cleaner in Troon and Symington, engaged in covert photography during his daily routines. His victims included women in supermarkets, individuals at petrol stations, and pedestrians walking along the streets. Most of the approximately 500 images discovered on his device depicted their lower bodies, focusing on their bottoms and breasts, with some images of young girls as young as 13. Evidence indicated that he even targeted girls during their school break times within Ayr.

The investigation was triggered when Dunlop’s business partner was tipped off about his suspicious activities and subsequently reported the matter to the police. During police interviews, PC Steven Woodley, who led the investigation, revealed that Dunlop admitted to being sexually aroused by the photographs he had taken. One particularly disturbing detail was that a woman was photographed 45 times as Dunlop followed her, capturing multiple images during her movements.

Defense lawyer Lynne Jeffrey argued that Dunlop should not be convicted of breaching the peace, claiming he was not caught in the act of taking photos and therefore did not commit a direct offense. However, Sheriff Jack McGowan dismissed this argument, emphasizing that Dunlop’s actions were clandestine and focused on specific parts of the body, indicating a deliberate attempt to hide his behavior. The sheriff stated, “You took photos surreptitiously, in secret, and focused on particular parts of the anatomy. You were hiding what you were doing.”

As the verdict was delivered, Dunlop, who resides in Ayr, was found guilty and was ordered to register as a sex offender. The court’s decision was met with shock and concern from the community. One of the victims, speaking outside the court, expressed her fears about the potential escalation of Dunlop’s behavior, saying, “Sooner or later he’d have got bored of taking photos and stepped it up a gear. It’s terrifying to think where it could have led.”
