MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
A man has been sentenced to over seven years in prison after admitting to numerous charges of rape and sexual assault.George Brusby, who has no fixed residence, appeared before Chester Crown Court on Friday, 12 December.
The 28-year-old was given a sentence of seven and a half years after pleading guilty to five counts of rape, one count of assault by penetration, one count of causing a female aged 13 or over to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity, and one count of sexual assault.
The offenses relate to reports received on 3 March 2023 concerning historic abuse involving a female victim and Brusby during their childhood in the Warrington area.
The police investigation was triggered after a video of Brusby’s arrest was circulated online by a paedophile hunting group, which used a decoy to catch him sending sexual messages to someone he believed was a child.
Following this information, the victim informed authorities that Brusby had sexually abused her between the ages of 11 and 14, while Brusby was between 12 and 16 years old.
She claimed Brusby raped and sexually assaulted her and coerced her into sexual activity.
She insisted she never consented, describing that Brusby used force during these encounters.
Brusby was detained and questioned about the allegations.
He initially claimed that their sexual encounters were consensual, but despite his denials, he faced charges which he ultimately admitted to in court.
In addition to his prison term, Brusby is required to register as a sex offender, comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and adhere to a restraining order aimed at protecting the victim.
