A man has received a life sentence after being convicted of fatally stabbing his ex-wife with a kitchen knife and abandoning her in the street.
Gavin Shaw, aged 61, carried out the assault on Michelle Kennedy, aged 55, at her residence on Manchester Road in Warrington on 13 October 2025.
Following the attack, Ms Kennedy was rushed to hospital, where medical staff fought to save her.
Despite their efforts, her injuries were too critical, and she passed away five days later.
Shaw was detained at the scene and subsequently charged with her murder.
During a hearing at Liverpool Crown Court on 23 March 2026, he admitted guilt.
On 2 April 2026, Shaw was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court to life imprisonment, with a minimum of 14 years and 196 days to be served before he becomes eligible for parole.
