HARTLEPOOL MAN JAILED FOR RAPING WOMAN IN HER HOME
A construction worker was sentenced to seven years in prison yesterday after being convicted of breaking into a woman’s home while she was asleep and assaulting her twice. The victim testified that he entered her residence in Hartlepool through an open window.
She managed to escape onto the street, but he pursued her, brought her back inside, and assaulted her on two separate occasions.
The woman stated that Roberts, a crane operator with stepchildren, admitted to the jury that he gained entry through a downstairs window left open.
Roberts, 29, denied the charges, claiming they were "a figment of her imagination." After a five-day trial at Teesside Crown Court, Gavin Roberts was found guilty and received a seven-year prison sentence.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
